An American mother has won the non-existent title of “World’s Champion of Childbirth” after giving birth to six babies in less than 10 minutes.
Thelma Chiaka’s sᴇxtuplets are ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ from 4:50 a.m. to 4:59 a.m. Friday at Texas Women’s Hospital in Houston. She’s given birth to two sets of twin Bᴏʏs and a set of twin Gɪʀʟs. Chiaka has named her two daughters Zina and Zuriel. She had yet to name her four Bᴏʏs when the news was announced on the hospital’s Facebook page.
The babies weighed between 1lb 12oz and 2lb and 14oz, and all six were in stable condition while they were being cared for in the hospital’s advanced neonatal intensive care unit.
The hospital shared the amazing news in an announcement in which they said the chance for Chiaka to give birth to a sᴇxtuplet is one in 4.7 billion… which makes you wonder what the Oᴅᴅs are for a sᴇxtuplet in less than 10 minutes.
In an interview, Thelma Chiaka said that she did not know she would give birth to six babies. According to her, initial scans showed they were expecting four babies, and they received the sᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇ of their life on the day of their birth.
She said: “We didn’t know we were having six babies. Initial scans showed 4. We just knew we were welcoming 6 babies on delivery day. I am so glad to have waited a while for God to bless us with such beautiful gifts. ”
She added: “Being a mother made me realize an inner strength I never knew I had. Motherhood has taught me patience, kindness, forgiveness, and dedication. Being a mother is not just about Cᴀʀʀʏing on a title, but wanting more for your children even if it is more than you already have.”
