A new television documentary series featuring a couple with quintuplets, triplets, and two sets of twins explores what it’s like to raise such a large family.
Along with their 14 kids, Karen and Deon Derrico play the main characters in the TLC series Doubling Down with the Derricos.
Numerous children living in one home is no laughing matter, as parents of large families and multiples are aware. However, few parents have experienced precisely the same trip as Las Vegas residents Karen and Deon Derrico, who had four sets of multiples back-to-back. The parents are now openly discussing what it’s like to raise 14 children: Dad Deon compared it to being struck by lightning while also being struck by lightning.
The couple initially welcomed the oldest Gɪʀʟ, Darian, then Derick, then the twins Dallas and Denver, according to WCSC. Following those were twins Diez and Dior, quintuplets Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician, and Daiten, and most recently, triplets Dawsyn, De’Aren, and Dyver, who celebrated their first birthday on July 6th, according to a photo the mother made on Instagram.
Dallas and Denver weren’t entirely a sᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇ to the parents because they had some inkling that twins were on the horizon, but when they found out they were expecting four children with their subsequent pregnancy, they were Sᴛᴜɴned. Until a visit to the doctor turned up soᴍᴇᴛʜing much stranger.
Deon remembered, “She goes and looks and finds the baby Gɪʀʟ beneath my wife’s breast, breastbone.” “You can only imagine our disbelief considering that is the fifth one. Even though it has been two days, we were still in ᴀᴡᴇ of the first four.”
Her medical professionals determined that she would need to receive care from a specialist in Mesa, Arizona, for the remainder of her pregnancy. After several weeks, they gave birth to healthy quints.
The parents, who will soon appear in the TLC reality series Doubling Down with the Derricos, acknowledged that life can be stressful at times.
According to the Daily Mail, the show will follow the family during Karen’s pregnancy with their triplets. Even in the teaser, Deon is seen keeping things running smoothly while Karen is placed on bed rest at 24 weeks. Deon worries that their infants will be born too soon at one point when Karen enters active labor early.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens to the Derricos, but no matter how wild things get, it’s obvious that these parents cherish their kids.
