How does the baby grow?
Due to the fact that the baby now weighs about 1.7kg and is about 42cm long, he or she takes up a lot of space in moms’ womb. Moms are gaining about 0.5kg per week and about half that weight is due to the baby gaining weight. In fact, in the next 7 weeks, the baby will gain about 1/3 to 1/2 weight compared to weight at the time of being born to survive after leaving the womb. The baby now has toenails, fingernails, and silk hair. The baby’s skin is softer and smoother as the body is plumper to prepare for birth.
Changes occurring in the mother’s body during the 32nd week of pregnancy
To meet the needs of moms’ body and baby’s development, moms’ blood volume has increased by 40-50% since moms were pregnant. The uterus is pushed close to the diaphragm and presses on the stomach which can cause shortness of breath and heartburn. To ease discomfort, try sleeping on a pillow and breaking down meals.
Moms may have lower back pain when the baby is growing. However, it can be a sign of premature labor. If it’s not due to premature birth, it’s because the uterus grows and hormonal changes cause moms to have back pain.
Besides, the uterus gradually changes the center of the body; the abdominal muscles become tense and weak, which changes moms’ posture and stretches moms’ back. Hormonal changes during pregnancy also loosen the joints and ligaments that connect the pelvis to the spine, which makes moms feel unbalanced and painful when walking, standing or sitting for a long time, turning in bed, getting up low chair or bathtub, or when bending, picking up objects.
