How does the baby grow?
The baby’s skeleton is turning from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord – life connection through the placenta – is growing stronger and thicker.
The baby weighs 140 grams (equivalent to a radish) and is about 12cm long from the head to the butt. The baby is able to move the joints, and the sweat glands start to grow.
Changes occurring in the mother’s body during the 17th week of pregnancy
Are moms starting to feel a bit out of balance? As the belly develops, sometimes moms will feel unsteady on the feet. Therefore, moms should try to avoid situations that can put moms at risk of falling. Wearing flat shoes will help moms not tumble while on the move; abdominal injuries can be dangerous for moms and babies. Besides, it is necessary to use eye drops in this week because moms may feel the eyes become drier.
